Hi there. We are Jeff, Trish, and Zach Brown and would like to welcome you to our travel blog.

For the past two years, we have been chewing on the idea for an extended family travel adventure, but we mostly just talked about it and read about others who had taken the plunge. In the spring of 2019, we looked at the upcoming year and saw Zach hitting double-digits and both Trish and I celebrating milestone birthdays. It seemed that the timing was not going to get any better. We committed by hitting pause on our respective careers and both resigned from our jobs to spend the early summer traveling the States and to do some serious research and planning for a slow-travel adventure around the world scheduled to start at the end of the summer and end sometime in early 2020. Planning everything out seemed impossible, or at least more work than we were up to. So, we are planning 2-4 weeks ahead of time and starting in Europe with a rough plan to continue to move east until we work our way back home.

As we talked to family and friends, a common request was to be kept in the loop. Out of that, this blog was launched with the purpose to share at least some of our experiences with our family and friends, as well as any interested passerby. Our hope is to provide posts from each of us during the trip, as we will each certainly have our own perspective on the places and people we meet.

Our intention with this journey is three-fold: One, we hope to get a glimpse of the cultures and people outside our typical everyday life. Two, we want to use this trip to dig deeper and work to understand the history beyond our common upbringing. Finally, we are hoping this trip becomes an adventure that our family can share and remember in the years to come.

Our family and friends have been incredibly supportive as we prepared for this trip. We fully realize we are extremely blessed to have this opportunity and we were all more than a bit sad to step away from the life and people we have at home. At the same time, we are excited to start this adventure and can’t wait to see what is around the next corner.
